Senior Web Designer & Developer

Experience and Skills

• 5+ years designing websites, with a portfolio of live marketing websites or landing pages you designed
• Strong UI/UX skills and fluency in Figma
• Proven SEO experience, plus a working understanding of AEO and structured data (schema.org)
• Confidence to question decisions and content, and to explain the reasoning behind your recommendations
• Hands-on React and TypeScript (Next.js preferred), solid HTML, CSS and Tailwind CSS
• Very comfortable working in a headless CMS (Payload, Strapi, Sanity, Contentful or similar)
• Accessibility knowledge (WCAG 2.2 AA)
• C1 English and clear communication with marketers, designers and engineers

Key Responsibilities

• Design the homepage and static pages end to end: user flows, wireframes, visual design and responsive layouts
• Own UI/UX decisions and back them with clear reasoning, research or data
• Review and challenge page structure, messaging and content, and propose better copy where needed
• Plan SEO and AEO for every page: structure, headings, metadata, internal links, FAQ content and structured data (schema.org)
• Keep the design system consistent across pages
• Build the pages in React, TypeScript and Next.js, and set them up as reusable blocks in a headless CMS so Marketing can update them
• Make every page accessible (WCAG 2.2 AA), responsive and fast on mobile

We are looking for a web designer first and a web developer second. You'll design the public website for an online tax-filing product for a US fintech company, starting with the homepage and static pages, and then build what you design.

Filing taxes makes people anxious, so the site must feel calm, patient and helpful. We want someone who challenges decisions on layout, messaging and content, and explains why a different choice would work better. You'll work closely with Marketing and the product engineering team.

Short-term project (1 month+, extendable based on performance). Full-time, fully remote, contractor paid in USD.
